Description

We're looking for a Managing Director to lead the business in our Austin Studio. Together we’ll build both great products and a great team and attract great clients.

As Managing Director, you will be responsible for ensuring the studio's profitability and leading sales for the Austin studio. You'll foster relationships with partners in your local area, and grow thoughtbot’s reputation as a leader in the local community. You’ll work together with the studio's Development Director, thoughtbot's Chief Design Officer, and global thoughtbot leadership, to grow and support the team and manage the business and success of the studio.

Requirements

This role requires a proven track record of attracting potential customers and experience with budgeting and forecasting. Qualified candidates will also have hands on design or development experience, or experience leading or advocating for a technical team. Experience with consulting is a plus.

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary, paid time off, 401k with matching, and health insurance.

INVESTMENT TIME

We consult for clients four days/week. On Fridays, we work to make ourselves, the company, and our community better by learning new tools and techniques, working on open source, blogging, creating new products, volunteering our time, and more.

ALWAYS LEARNING

We pay 100% of expenses when you speak at conferences and 50% of the cost for attendees. We also pay 50% of all expenses for job-related training.

STAY FRESH

We work a sustainable pace of 40 hours/week. We have five weeks of vacation time per year, in addition to company holidays and sick days. For new parents, we also have at least 6 weeks paid leave in all locations, as well as the ability to take at least 6 months off.
