We're growing and looking to add a Development Team Lead to our London office. We’re looking for an experienced technical leader to support and grow our development team in London, while also continuing to be an individual contributor. Together we’ll build both great products and a great team.

As the leader of the development team, you’ll provide mentorship and support to 6-10 developers in London with one-on-ones and reviews. You'll also be working to grow the development team, our reputation in London, attracting great projects, and working inbound opportunities. You’ll work together with the rest of the thoughtbot London leadership team, and global thoughtbot leadership, to manage the business and success of the studio.

Requirements

Alongside hands-on technical work, you'll be helping to support the London development team: working with team members on their professional development, hiring new people, and finding new projects. Along with the other Directors in London, you'll be responsible for profitability of the studio.

thoughtbot web developers are able to rapidly build high-quality web applications in Ruby on Rails or Elixir and Phoenix, fully test-driven. Qualified candidates have an excellent knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, Unix, deployment, performance, debugging, refactoring, design patterns, and other programming practices. While Rails experience is a must, we're also rapidly expanding our work into other languages and frameworks.

Very well-qualified candidates will also have experience with consulting, and have a proven track record of attracting potential customers.

INVESTMENT TIME

We consult for clients four days/week. On Fridays, we work to make ourselves, the company, and our community better by learning new tools and techniques, working on open source, blogging, creating new products, volunteering our time, and more.

ALWAYS LEARNING

We pay 100% of expenses when you speak at conferences and 50% of the cost for attendees. We also pay 50% of all expenses for job-related training.

STAY FRESH
